Demographic situation of the world

Recently, the Republic of India overtook the People’s Republic of China, which has always held the number one place in terms of population.

November 15, 2022 has been named “Eight Billion Day” by the United Nations. Today, the world population is estimated to be over 8 billion. It took 200,000 years of human history to reach one billion, and only 200 years to reach eight billion. For comparison, the world population in 1800 is estimated at 990 million. The highest rate of world population growth occurred in 1962-1963, when it was equal to 2.2 percent. Since then, the rate of world population growth has been declining. It took 12 years to reach 8 billion from 7 billion, 14 years to reach 9 billion, and 21 years to reach 9 to 10 billion, according to scientists.
