The experienced teacher Sylap Atayev gave a seminar on the topic “Social media and the youth” at the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan.
As the teacher mentioned, the aims of the seminar was to teach something and to keep the audience interested. As the witness of the seminar, I can freely say that teacher could fulfill his aims. The way it was conducted and the valuable information given throughout the seminar captured the attention of the whole audience.
Sylap Atayev started the beginning part of the seminar with the history of cellphones. Then he moved towards the different usage of the social media world wide among the youth based on certain statistics. The harm of the social media on the youth was of the main emphasis. The negative effects like anxiety, low self-esteem, unpoductivity, inability to communicate, are all formed because of misusage of social media. Also the health problems like depression and sleep disorder due to the too much usage of social media were marked during the seminar.
The correct and accepted procedure of using the social media, proper time management, using the potential of human brain were stressed. At the end of the seminar some useful advices were given about how to use the social media.
