Queen Elizabeth’s title as the longest reigning monarch of the 21st century has been finalized. Elizabeth surpassed Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who sat on the throne for 70 years and 127 days, with a difference of days.
The 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne was celebrated last week with magnificent ceremonies that lasted for four days, Queen of England II. As of Sunday, June 12, 2022, Elizabeth has been performing this duty for 25 thousand 696 days without interruption. Thus, the Queen surpassed Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was on the throne for 70 years and 127 days continuously from 1946 to 2016, when she passed away in the Asian country of Thailand, and confirmed her title as the longest reigning monarch of the 21st century.
In fact, Sobhuza II, who sat on the throne for 83 years in the African country of Swaziland (now Esvatini), is known as the longest-serving monarch. However, Sobhuza was represented by her grandmother until the age of 22 and de facto took over power in 1968, after her country gained independence from Britain.
