Mother Earth calls us to action. Nature suffers. As a result of plastic pollution, ocean acidification occurs. Extreme heat, wildfires and floods, and a record-breaking Atlantic hurricane season have affected millions of people.
Climate change, human-induced changes in nature, and unacceptable practices that disrupt biodiversity such as deforestation, land-use change, intensive farming and livestock practices, and poaching are accelerating the destruction of the planet.
Ecosystems support all life on Earth. The healthier our ecosystems, the healthier the planet and its people. Restoring damaged ecosystems will help end poverty, combat climate change and prevent mass loss of life. Launching on June 5, 2021 on World Environment Day, the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration will help us halt and reverse the destruction of the planet’s ecosystems. But we will only succeed if we work together.
International Mother Earth Day aims to remind that each of us owes our existence to our planet and its ecosystems.
In our country, under the leadership of the esteemed President, a large-scale positive transformation is being carried out in the field of land use. The bill “On amendments and additions to the Land Code of Turkmenistan” adopted at the last meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh is proof of this.
