Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Muhammetgeldi Serdarov met on tuesday with UN Resident coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko. The news was reported by orient.tm.
The sides discussed ways to improve Turkmenistan’s relationship with the United Nations, with a focus on financing the Sustainable Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2021-2025.
During the meeting, Shlapachenko informed the Turkmen side that the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) Regional Forum on Sustainable Development is scheduled for April 6-7 this year, and that the UN Office in Turkmenistan is glad to help the Turkmen side in preparing for participation in this event and compiling a Voluntary National Review of SDG achievements.
The UN Resident Coordinator also stated that the organization’s representative office is ready to continue to support Turkmenistan in strengthening its financial management system, including the implementation of medium-term budgeting in accordance with Turkmenistan’s Budget Code.
